Hi everyone,
Maggie here with another Interiors to Inspire. The home I'm featuring today is a little out of the norm in that it has a very clear, consistent color scheme throughout every room. It's not a look everyone can get away with (
or that everyone enjoys!), but here it's great example of different ways to combine a simple color scheme. Rich navy, pale camel, and bright whites bring this home to life (
and coincidentally, are the colors in my own apartment. I'm taking notes!).

The kitchen gets an immediate update with deep navy paint. By painting the walls, ceiling, shelving, doors and cabinets all the same color, the petite kitchen appears larger. Blue and white porcelain add interest, while warm woods and modern shiny whites brighten up what could be a dark hole.

In the sitting room, the color scheme is inverted - the walls are beige, the navy comes in through the upholstery, and the warm wood tones can be found in the accent furniture and accessories. A dark floor keeps everything grounded. Like the porcelain collection, the seating is fairly traditional and mixes well with a very modern white coffee table.

This sweet little nook shows the same color plan as the kitchen but on soft furnishings. The upholstery matches the navy wall color, which is accented with traditional-flavored decorative shelves in white. Notice that the hardware on the sconces are painted to fade into the wall and blend in with the white decorations. A little blond table warms up the space and a modern white chair provides addintional seating.

To get this look, you can't go wrong with painting your walls a rich deep navy (
and maybe the doors and trim too!). May I suggest
Benjamin Moore's Admiral Blue? Whether you decide on white walls or navy you can still invest in a rich navy sofa, like
this one from Horchow (
or have any sofa reupholstered). You'll have your pick between a
modern white side table or a sweet little
blond wood one. Accent your walls with
display shelves and
blue and white porcelain. For another shot of warm wood, try
this chair at a desk or in a pair. And instead of the pillows shown on the sofa, try a pair of
these

I absolutely LOVE this apartment. Especially the kitchen. The whole look is so rich and cozy. And there are definitely takeaways for doing something similar in your own space. Great post.
ReplyDeleteI really love that blue couch. The walls are such a gorgeous shade of blue---but I would be affraid that it would make my house too dark. xoxo and thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteI love blue and white china and snap up pieces I like when I find them, but I really like the idea of putting them against a navy wall! So unexpected.
ReplyDeleteever since my best friend's older sister painted her room walls navy I've been dying to do this at home. Maybe one day i will get the guts to actually do it, but in the mean time some navy accents might do the trick.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite color palettes - although I wouldn't have the discipline needed to just stick to these colors. It is very inspiring though. I especially love the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI am loving this all this navy! I usually shy away from dark, but this is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI love deep blues and crisp white together. So classic!
ReplyDeleteI love the deep navy and crisp white, so clean and sophisticated! This is how I decorated my livingroom a year ago and I still just love it.
ReplyDeleteNot enough people use blue in their design, myself included. Thanks for all the inspiration!
