LET'S BE TOURISTS..!

Last weekend I had the pleasure of catching up with a few out of town guests and inevitably the conversation turned to recommendations in the city. Where should we eat? What should we see? Which made me think... this summer I need to be a tourist in my own city.
I've also been super inspired lately by the site Tales of Endearment (do you read it? I am obsessed!) and love her fashionable takes on sightseeing in NYC...

I'm so sold on this idea, I'm going to come up with a big 'ol list of things I have to do this summer. Outdoor movies. Ferry rides. Antiquing. Camping (umm... maybe). Road trips!
What are some things you've never done in your own city that you're dying to do? This could turn into a fun little project for all of us! Who's in?

  5. I also love this idea. I've been keeping a few list in the notepad app on my iphone for over a year.

Since I live in the Maryland part of the DC area, "my city" is actually northern VA, DC and MD. I have a list for places, activities and food I'd like to check out.

It's so exciting when you have a city nearby with so much to explore.

  6. I think that sounds like a great idea! I recently picked up a book from Anthropologie called "36 Hours: 150 Weekends in the USA & Canada" by the NY Times. It detailed a weekend trip in most bigger cities in the US- and I am embarassed to say that I had only done/saw/ate at about half of the reccomendations for Houston. What a shame! This summer is the time to change that!

  15. Having a toddler opens up parts of San Francisco I had never experienced before having a child. It is so much fun to experience new corners of San Francisco, new restaurants, new activities I had never tried before.

However, my San Francisco bucket list is now longer than ever. I have lived here for years and have never been to Alcatraz...

  16. I'm along the same lines as Lindsay, now that I have a toddler I'm doing different things all over again that I did in my youth, but there are still a ton of places in Philadelphia and the surrounding area that I still have yet to experience. I'm in! I need to start my list now.

  17. Yes! I've been kicking this same idea around with some friends. Seeking out new experiences is a great way to rediscover your city. Just this week my husband surprised me with a night out and we went to a speakeasy in Denver with a secret entrance- so fun!
