So I found some spaces that have just enough of that little pop, but aren't... well, poppy. In fact they're all quite traditional and I love how the yellow feels more unexpected that way.
More importantly, I like these spaces prove that you can pair it with more yellow woods (as long as there is some separating factor like a rug underneath) how all you need is just that one little kick of color to give a room some fun energy.Do you decorate with yellow? How do you use it?

We just painted our bedroom bright yellow and I can't tell you how good it looks, and how happy it makes us. If you're afraid of yellow - don't be.

i am a huge fan of yellow when done right- just posted about it recently, right down to using "nervous" in my opening sentence- great minds think alike!

So relieved to know that my trepidation towards yellow is shared! Thanks for showing such fab tips for incorporating yellow in a more natural way.
ReplyDeleteI'm obsessed with yellow/black/grey/white at the moment. I agree that yellow only works when done right, but when done right it's so fab.
ReplyDeleteYellow is so fun! If I ever get married my colours will probably be yellow and gray. These spaces are so pretty.

Yellow makes me happy, but I would never paint a whole room yellow. I love it in small amounts so it stands out.
ReplyDeleteI actually posted some great rooms with yellow accents today in my blog too.

I think every room needs a pop of yellow.

It is a beautiful, happy colour... but I never use it either. It seems too hard for some reason..
ReplyDeleteYELLOW is an Ivy & Piper favourite!!! So bright, fun and lively! We love using it with pink or aqua...but there are so many other stunning combinations too! E & M xx
ReplyDeleteThat is EXACTLY what I always say about yellow (and orange for that matter)-- it makes me nervous!! It feels a little overwhelming. But I think throwing in small pops of it, whether in an outfit or in decor, actually does work wonders to just... inject a little sunshine and cheer into the atmosphere!
ReplyDeleteI like yellow! It's one of my favourites! It's bright and lovely!
ReplyDeleteHello wall paper! Love the red birds!
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of yellow, since I was always coerced to have yellow rooms growing up. But I am trying to get over that, I jspust recently painted an antique record cabinet pale yellow, it's a start :)
It does look good against my grey walls.

What is NOT to like about yellow..it's sunshine in a paint bucket! franki
ReplyDeleteI love the look of the last pic!
ReplyDeleteI agree, yellow and grey are of chic together! For Spring and Summer, I love to use yellow and hot pink throw pillows on my white sofa for extra fun!

Our living room is in the same shade of yellow that Thomas Jefferson painted his dining room (Jefferson Yellow). It was one of the first things we did when we moved into our traditional brick colonial in Washington, DC 12 years ago-- we still LOVE the warmth and cheerfulness it brings to our home.
ReplyDeleteThis is so refreshing! Normally yellow is reserved only for walls, however a yellow chair is perfect. It's unique and not overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteI just buy a new pair of yellow all stars, they're so cute <3 and really pop up my wardrobe :) just love them

I am with you! I have the hardest time wearing or decorating with yellow. I love its happy spirit it brings to anything but it can be intimidating to incorporate into things because it POPS so much.

I have warmed to yellow as my decorating tastes have matured (e.g. as I have figured out what my tastes are and incorporated them into our home). Yellow is such a cheer color, I love to use it in smaller rooms. I have these yellow pestamels in our bathroom - they are a quick easy and commitment-free way to add yellow to a bathroom: http://www.shopellalou.com/Pestamel-Herringbone-Curry-Yellow-p/isttohel06a.htm
