WINTERIZING

The winter weather in Seattle this season has been insanely good to us - tons of sunshine, mild temps, and barely any evenings where I've had to break out the big puffy coat. But this morning there was a sharper chill in the air, and as I peeked at my iphone forecast through sleepy eyes, I sighed. 30 degrees. Winter is definitely here.

So I'm collecting inspiration to get me through the next two (or three) chilly months ahead... pale winter skin and all. With trips to Salt Lake City, Toronto, New York and Iceland planned, I think I'm going to need it!

While we're on the topic... have any of you been to Iceland? I'm dying for tips for this getaway - a girl's weekend and not at all work related (yippee!).

  1. I went to Iceland (and Sweden) last year! So much fun. I would recommend going on a Golden Circle guided tour, seeing the Blue Lagoon and trying one of their famous hot dogs :) Yes, it's weird, but they are famous for their hot dogs. Can't wait to hear about your trip!

  3. Enjoy your trip to Iceland - regret I cannot recommend any place there.
Toronto, is another story. If you have not been to a wonderful restaurant named "Moroco" 99 Yorkville Ave, Toronto, it is a favourite.

  9. My favorite hotel in the world is not far from Reykjavik - Hotel Budir. Evidently you can get a helicopter to drop you off there, which might be a good option because driving on the snowy roads is a bit scary if you're not used to it.

If you have an overnight flight there, I would recommend Blue Lagoon as your first stop. Beat the crowds and it will turn your day around.

  15. Sounds perfect! I've gone to Copenhagen in January and it was such a memorable trip because it was so cozy!! Candles everywhere, in the streets, in all the shops, bright colors..a whole different vibe. You're going to love it! Don't pass up the reindeer meatballs....

DO NOT MISS the Blue Lagoon. It will be easy to find a bus that stops there on the way to the airport from Reykjavik city center. You can take a dip in the hot springs and leave all nice and relaxed for your flight. Except by that point you definitely won't want to leave. Perhaps go upon arrival as a magical introduction to the country?

Yes! Seattle weather has been lovely. I'm not looking forward to the rainy, cold weekend ahead. But I'll take it since it's been wonderful so far this season!
