When I moved into my new apartment, I vowed to get rid of all my little knicknacks. You know, pretty little pieces you pick up on a whim that have very little purpose? My life is overflowing with them... I always tell myself I need them for styling shoots (which is true) but after a while it just becomes excess.
The fact that so many random pretties are filling up my cupboards may be why I've never really thought about collecting anything else...
But then I see moments like these, and I think...
Maybe just one little corner on the bookshelf? A window sill? Surely that couldn't hurt...
Do you collect anything? How or where you display your pieces?

I have a small collection of white milk glass vases but after seeing the beautiful glass bottles and boxes you've posted here I think I'm going to have to branch out!
ReplyDeleteHere's a link to the source for the glass boxes. They're so beautiful I *had* to know where they came from (it's the 9th photo in the slideshow):

i can't collect things, much less display them like this; makes me feel cluttered and messy. drives me nuts! even if i have too much on my nightstand "tablescape" i have to edit it down so it feels simple and clean...
ReplyDeleteit looks so pretty in these shots, but i guess im a minimilist at heart!
I have plenty of collections but they never look as lovely as this! They look so magical & special here instead of junk sitting everywhere!

I lovely tasteful, dainty collections. I started collecting bottles for my wedding centerpieces and I kept most of the collection after. I have most of them boxed away but I keep the really special ones out on display. I also collected vintage hankies, which I love and have framed in my office!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was younger I usually collect every kind of diferents things. Now the problem is the space. Kisses.

I don't have many little things around my place because my cat loves to knock things off their ledges (he broke a glass container full of coffee grounds just thing morning!)
ReplyDeleteMy problem is collecting large things (love antique sewing machines, sculptures..etc)that I have no room for. I love your collectibles though...very pretty!
I don't have that many little beauties (my partner calls them dust-catchers). But each one I've got, means something. And that means they're mine forever.
ReplyDeleteI collect postcards sent to me by my friends when they travel to beautiful places!
ReplyDeleteI really like the alcohol container jars, they looks charming..
ReplyDeleteI collect dishes (hoard is more like it). Tons and tons of cake plates, saucers, bowls...it overflows from every cupboard!

Great post!
ReplyDeleteI collect some random items:
1. rocks from different states/countries/hikes
2. local teas from different countries
3. coins/money from different countries
4. bottles - wine, beer, water
I display them in an ikea 5x5 cubby shelf.
I do not like clutter....only thing I like to buy is vintage items for the bar! Other than that-I like less stuff!!!
ReplyDeleteI collect miniatures that I put in an antique printer's drawer, made shelf, that is from my grandfather's printing business. Easy, small and the items always remind me of my travels.
ReplyDeletelovely images if collections.
ReplyDeleteI have so much stuff, but I don't collect anything specific.
Love those vintage decanters!

Your knickknacks are gorgeous!! Eye candy!!!
ReplyDeleteLove this post and all of the collections! What is in the first pic? I have had some ideas of what to collect but currently don't have anywhere to display, once I move into my dream home I will totally start collecting. I love antique jewelry, little pigs, and vintage kitchen knacks <3
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful collection of vintage bottles. Totally worth keeping!!
ReplyDeleteI love to collect big and small glass containers of any shape (wine bottles, cool beer bottles, old jars, and big hurricane vessels). I always find a use for them, whether it's a center piece for a dinner party or to hold soaps and cotton balls. They keep everything in the open, but add a decor thread through my whole home.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspirational post!
If you love these, then you'd definitely go home with your purse full after visiting one of the many Brocants that take place every weekend in Paris!
ReplyDeleteNice collection!
