For those of you who already have a West Elm in your city... you might not be as excited as we are around here to finally have one. On the other hand... does your West Elm have one of these?
I'm guessing not. That's because the Seattle West Elm is a whole new kind of concept store. The products are more layered and casual, the living wall behind the cash wrap a beautiful green addition, and a the store design itself was built on a collaboration with one of my favorite designers, Thomas O'Brien, creating areas that feel more like rooms instead of a huge open space.
One thing I'm really happy to see in the store is more COLOR! I hope they continue to bring more of it in for products beyond kitchen too. Don't get me wrong, I love the neutrals, but I do enjoy a little more options for a little pop here and there! And then there were these sweet, lifestyled vignettes around the whole store...
I loved the living spaces, but the bedding area was by far my favorite...
The hand blocked pillows and vintage sari quilts brought a more personal feel to the space and I fell in love with a few options for my own home that I may need to go back for! During the tour of the space they mentioned how the layering really speaks to how people are purchasing the items too. Most of us aren't picking the whole package - it's about building a look with pieces we love, and they conveyed that idea beautifully.
Now... let's talk about this wall of dishes!
For a girl who loves to throw a good dinner party and has some extra space in her cupboards for a few more collections, this could be dangerous! These built-ins are also new for West Elm - totally adjustable shelves in white set a fresh backdrop for the collections.
Especially loved these cuties... and that book (hello perfect!. I'm already planning my holiday wish list...

What a beautiful store! That living wall is utterly amazing. I like how the vibe of this store is a little more laid back and colorful than other West Elms.

ReplyDeleteLove, love, love, LOVE this! I really like store tours, esp. for brands we don't have here in the UK; they've started to ship to us now, so who knows - maybe a b&m store soon?! The colourful range in the kitchen/dining area is lovely and that living wall reminds me of one of the Anthropologie stores here in London that has a huge one spanning three floors.
ReplyDeleteI'm obsessed with West Elm and it doesn't help that there is one across the street from our condo.

That green backdrop is amazeballs. I've been searching/brainstorming for an idea above our bed and that helps so much. I love the texture, color -- whole idea. Thanks much!
