PASTEL STYLING :: A BOOKSHELF MAKEOVER

My good friend and favorite 'big idea' conspirator, April Pride, came to me a few months ago asking if I'd want to be a part of a 'curated by' series for Eastern Goods where she is the Creative Director (in between the million other projects she's always working on!). The company has such an interesting history, but their focus is managing a beautiful collection of Asian antiques that have been collected for decades.
Of course, I said yes! And us being idea people, we couldn't leave it just at that. We decided it would be fun to take my curated pieces and style my  bookshelves with them to show how these beautiful antiques would mix right into any home. Soooo... here we go!
If you remember what my bookshelves looked like before, there was tons of color. So, naturally, I wanted to go in the opposite direction and chose pieces in pastels contrasted with black - a favorite look of mine.
The little figurines were my favorite pieces and the inspiration for the collection, but if I could have kept one piece for my own, it would probably have been the 'hat stand' - yes, that's what it is. But would make a beautiful vase and is amazing on its own. The colors were perfection next to my Domino book!

Guarder of the vodka. Very important duty, if you ask me. You can see how easily these antique accents mix with modern and vintage pieces in the shelves - pulled together by a common palate it's a seamless look!

The contrast of my sprayed out candlestick lamps against this gorgeous screen was so striking. Amazing how it changed the mood of the room, and beautifully complimented the desk. I could see how going in this softer, silvery direction for a room with this desk and lamp combo could be really beautiful.

Do you spy any favorite pieces? To view the whole collection and learn more about the antiques, you can see the entire curated set here, and read a little interview with me here.

  3. Ah, I love the green lamps. They offer a perfect pop. I need to do more searching for simple lamps and spray painting them myself.. much more doable than searching for the perfect lamp at an outrageous price. Have a wonderful weekend!

  4. Your candlestick lamps look amazing against that screen. That green just POPS! I can`t guess which is your favorite item, I thought it might be something you put around your fav little poster, maybe the khoi firsh dish? I love the statues especially the guy hanging out with the vodka bottle, he is just too cute.
