THE MOD HATTER
Last summer in Positano I purchased a fabulous vintage-style hat (the same one you can see on my dresser here) thinking I'd get the opportunity to wear it once a summer, if that. But, then Anthropologie started carrying the same ones in colorful stripes. Soon came Marni's release of another vintage style - the beehive as I call it - for the summer. And, of course, Kate Spade joined in on the fun...
Which makes me think I may get more use out of mine than I thought! I just have to patiently wait for the sun to arrive. Perhaps I'll start doing a little retro style bikini shopping in the meantime. Do you have a favorite summer hat tucked away in your closet?

I'm more a fan of large summer hats that hide your eyes, the type that Samantha of Sex & the City wore on the beach in the movie. :-) But I love the pictures! Your hat would suit perfectly with a vintage type bikini. :-)
ReplyDeleteI have several vintage winter hats I love, but my only summer one is a giant straw one that isn't particularly special. It's a little beat up and hopefully with all these cute ones out now, soon to be replaced

I never go to the beach without my oversized hat in J-lo style:) super for not getting too tanned (red:). Here in Sweden we await the sun as well! Xoxo Caroline

All of a sudden, my hats feel boring. I love the Marni hat! (Also wish I could duplicate the frayed vintage hat in the photograph next to it!)

Isn't Positano positively fabulous!! I still like my little white straw hat and change the ribbon around it..add a vintage brooch, exoctic (peacock!) feathers, etc. (and call it macaroni!!) franki

ReplyDeleteI just got back from a cruise and we got to see Positano, but only for an hour, it was my favorite place...of the ENTIRE cruise tours we took, and only an hour....I have to go back or see more pictures, did you post about that? If so I would love to have your link to it....I LOVE that place!
