So when I started thinking about beginning a new cooking series on coco+kelley, I realized... shooting in this space is going to be practically impossible! So I'm building my own kitchen in my head, instead...
It's got a fireplace (What? It's chilly around here!), plenty of storage for my wine collection (which currently consists of about 6 bottles) and fresh groceries, gorgeous reclaimed wood with shiny brass hardware (because there's not enough gold in my house as it is) and the topper...
COUNTER SPACE. Preferably in cararra marble. It looks prettiest when shooting.
What elements would you add to your dream kitchen? (Excuse me, I have to go do some morning dishes now...)

I love that first picture! Those shelves are awesome. My dream kitchen need lots and lots of counter space!
ReplyDeleteoooh! a fireplace in the kitchen... now that's different!
ReplyDeletemy dream kitchen would include a big island w/ seating. and a big fridge. granite. or marble. my kitchen would need to be big and bright.
I have exactly the same problem- lack of countertop space, no microwave, no dishwasher plus too little daylight and no place to eat/even have breakfast in it =S
ReplyDeleteA spacious, bright kitchen is on top priority on my next home!
I know my kitchen is horrible but the idea of tackling it just makes me tired. C'est la vie.
ReplyDeleteMy dream kitchen would be one that allows me to open my oven and not hit my backside on the fridge (something that obviously is not possible at the moment!)
ReplyDeleteI want a fireplace in my kitchen too! It's funny because my house was built in the mid 1800's, so there actually is a fireplace covered with drywall, behind the stove... but it just wouldn't be practical to open up. Boo...
ReplyDeleteWell, off the top of my head: big, deep sinks, white ceiling height cabinets, dark, reclaimed wood floors, some open shelving, and lots of counter space. Oh, and of course fabulous countertops and backsplash. But, of course, I haven't really thought much about it. ;)
ReplyDeletei literally JUSt saw your house spread in Rue and LOVE LOVE LURVE it! You are so talented!
ReplyDeleteI love your dream kitchen! Mine would include a little seating nook. I don't have the largest kitchen either, but would love to be able to sit down in there with coffee from time to time.

No microwave? Wow you are good. A friend of mine doesn't have a microwave either, he says it is bad for your health, I believe him, but I just can't help myself. We used to have a teeny tiny kitchen, so I hear ya! Cooking was a big pain, would have to keep moving things around cause I had no counterspace either. To pass the time washing dishes I borrowed a tiny tv from my parents and then one day it went smashing to the floor cause it was teetering on the top of the microwave cause I had no space to put it because of all the dishes. Yup always fun working in a small kitchen.

ReplyDeleteI am "really feeling" that burnished brass...I LUV it! franki
ReplyDeleteDeciding on the proper kitchen countertops could be the perfect way to accentuate your existing cooking as well as eating area. When you're feeling the desire to do some refurbishing, this will be several things to consider since you will be working with an existing setup.
ReplyDeleteah, yes, the two magic words... counter space. I would kill for a big, spacious kitchen with lots of counter space!
ReplyDeleteYou're so funny, Cassandra! I live in a tiny art deco apt on south beach and a dishwasher is not part of the deal. I love dinner parties but have grown to detest washing all of the dishes too! I would kill for a bigger kitchen with a dishwasher too!! Ps: the Carrara marble is part of my dream kitchen too:)
ReplyDeleteThe kitchen really looks good! I love it and want it in my apartment.
ReplyDeleteI love the fireplace in the kitchen...such an interesting idea. I take me back to the concept of cooking over an open fire, not just snuggling up to one to keep warm. I love it all!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great imagination. I love the fireplace, and everything else of course! I love seeing different blogs and getting new Design Ideas. I found that Simply Decorate is full of ideas and inspiration, as well as great design tools. While I do work with them, they honestly offer everything you need to design the perfect kitchen. They are really worth checking out when you are ready!
ReplyDeleteLol! I've had a dishwasher for 2 yrs now, I'm 37 which means i washed dishes by hand for 19 yrs... With gloves of couse. I Love BIG kitchens, the bigger the better, however I' ve never had one, only small ones. Before I hit 40 I will get a house where the kitchen takes half the house. I must warn you I'm latin, we tend to exagerate. The first image killed me, Love it love it! You know, there are little dishwashers for one and they dont take up much room maybe you should have a look at one.
