Let's be honest. There's no way I could have completely filled this place with beautiful pieces in six months on my own. I'm not living in single blogger lap 'o luxury, rollin' in my bed of money every night. Which is why I feel insanely grateful for the businesses that helped contribute pieces to my home - especially Crate & Barrel.
When hunting for someone to partner with on designing my space, I knew Crate & Barrel would be on the top of my list. Not only do I love the mix of furniture and accent pieces, but add all the options for tabletop and kitchen, and they've got pretty much everything this girls needs to complete a home!
I spent hours going through the shelves of dishes and glassware, picking out some of my favorite everyday pieces for the house. I ended up with stemware from the Tour collection - the champagne glasses you have all be asking about - and stocked up on Aspen dinnerware for everyday use.
Then came the fun (and challenging) part. Fabric!
Have you even spent time in the C&B fabric area? I don't think a lot of people realize how many really great options they offer for upholstery pieces. Being on a bit time crunch to finish my space off, I had to limit myself to in-stock options, so I pretty much lived in this section for a month straight trying to choose which direction to go with for my Sasha Armchairs.
The sales associates were incredibly helpful (and patient!) as I pulled down fabric after fabric, sizing it up, figuring out if I wanted solid or pattern, color or neutral. I finally ended up with the yummy "Cambridge Camel" that you see in my living room, and I love it. It's so nice to have pieces that feel a little more custom than ordering off the floor, and it's so easy to do in the store!
What Seattle home would be complete without an espresso machine?? This Breville is amazing - built in grinder, foolproof settings while I learn to get professional, and a sleek little design. I even nerded out over the espresso cups (yes I bought that one).
Whew! What hard work right?
I'd like to think that those years (yes years) of struggling to make ends meet while pursuing my dream of being a full time blogger and designer have finally paid off when opportunities like this come my way. I feel incredibly blessed to be in a position where I can work with such great people on such an important project - my home! A huge huge thank you to Crate & Barrel for making it all possible!

ReplyDeleteLoved this post, congrats :-)
ReplyDeleteI love learning more about the "behind the scenes" details and C&B has such a great selection for you to choose from. As much as I love interiors, I think that Breville might be the best thing ever!! I want to visit Seattle just for the coffee :)
ReplyDeleteI love this! A true inspiration for the rest of us bloggers out there. Congrats on the C&B connection!

so much fun! love reading behind the scene footage as it just gives a whole different perspective on how much work is involved to getting the space done up for a photo shoot: the fab stores, talented trades and photographer, and the brain behind it all!
ReplyDeleteFantastic work Cassandra! You made us Canadian proud!
So fun to read the behind the scenes story of decorating your place. I`m amazed you pulled it off so quickly. Love crate and barrel too, my Mom has a huge amazing salade bowl by them that I keep hoping she will get sick of and give to me!
ReplyDeleteI bet you just stand in your place admiring how good it all looks!

What I really and trully appreciate in this post: Honesty. You didn't try to B.S your readers that you went all out to get the dream stuff in the months leading to the issue. I feel that most bloggers in trying to upscale their lives for their reader's envy underestimate the value of honesty. It is pieces like these that allow a blogger to connect with their readers not all the fancy living and magazine-esque pictorials. So thank you, for not taking your readers for granted, and being honest.
ReplyDeleteLucky Girl! Love C&B. Great espresso machine, by the way... I'm sipping on some coffee right now made by that same Breville number...
ReplyDeleteSensy-Style, thank you SO much for your comment. I think you understood the post much better than the anonymous poster who said this was a shamless plug.
ReplyDeleteWell, actually it IS a plug. And no I'm not ashamed of it. Crate & Barrel supplied me with the opportunity to fill my home with beautiful things. I think it only appropriate that I THANK them for doing so in the best way I know how. With a post. If I didn't believe in this company,I wouldn't promote them.
And I wanted to be honest showing that all of these pieces didn't just come out of my pocket or magically appear. That I couldn't have done it (at least not as quickly) without the help of some sponsors.
Thank the rest of you for your really sweet comments and I love reading about what it is you love about C&B too!
How inspirational this post is! As a designer who finally decided to leap out on my own and start my own business, it is so great to see someone who has once been on that brave limb, reaching out for the stars and finally finding success!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you and your acheivements. You really deserve it! Happy designing!
Cheers-
