I LOVE...

The combination of print and color in this ensemble. It absolutely shouldn't work, but somehow it does...

Perhaps it's the classic tailoring and simple lines that pull it together? The pop of green accessories? The way the colors play off each other. The real question is - if I saw this on the average woman ... would it still be fashionable? In my mind, that's always the way to separate the crazy ensembles from the ones that really work. What do you think?

  2. i have always admired women who can mix and match prints with other patterns. i think the trick is to find a common color. in this instance the navy in the coat and in the pants and bangles really work and the kelly green in the coat and clutch bring the look together! brilliant!

  6. There is no way I could pull it off --- but I love it on her! That's what style's all about - wear what works on YOU!

  7. Just is so darn appealing. Your right shouldn't work but most definitely does. I do think she needs bangs though..shame on me!

  8. I've been in love with this outfit forever. You're right...it maybe shouldn't work, but it does. I also love that clutch and the cuff. To die for.

  9. Not something I would wear, but it does catch the eye. There is something nice about it.

  10. You're right, it shouldn't, but yeah, it really does.

  11. It works on tall, thin and beautiful....but if I showed up to work in it, um, probably not.

    I love the moxie though!

  12. It takes talent to mix pattern like this...talent I don't have unfortunatly. I have always looked at ensembles like this and thought "I could never pull that off"! Really it's all in the confidence one has.

  13. The first poster wrote: "totally works on tall and thin!" I have to agree. I'm thin, but a bit shorter and not SKINNY, and if I wore this I just have the feeling I couldn't pull it off. Tall and thin equals less fabric, and therefore less of a mess. I do like this combo, though - you're right - it does somehow work.

what if she wasn't holding her jacket closed, and we could see the printed shirt? would it be overkill?

i'd like to think that it would look just as stylish. that outfit made me look twice.

  15. me too! me too! i love mixing TEXTURES as well as patterns and colors.

  16. I think it works on her because she's tall and thin - if you're at all short I think the pattern would just overwhelm you and it would just look like a great outfit gone bad. love those pants :)

Nooooooo! I totally disagree. DOES not work! There is nothing in this that I see attractive. I really think she needs to change her "do" to include bangs! But each to his own!

I am surprised that so many thought you must be tall & thin. When I first saw the outfit, I closed my eyes and pictured Meryl Streep (shorter, more attainable build) and I thought "still gorgeous"!!! As to the model needing bangs, I think it is her blonde eyebrows that are a little different. I kind of loved that about her, though! Fantastic post!

  22. Hmmm...I like the mixing prints and definitely the textures. I think on the everyday woman either the top half with the mixed prints or the bottom half with the great pants and a little more subtle top would be a stylish choice. And even though it "works" on this model...not sure it still would if the picture was of her going grocery shopping or something else mundane.

  23. Not working for me. The model is sickly thin and looks like she just threw on whatever she pulled out of the closet.

  24. it is truly wonderful how the past can be incorporated to the modern.

  25. I think it's all about the confidence you wear it with. There's a certain bravery involved in pulling off two bold patterns - but have to say, I like it - it's fresh and a little unexpected!

  26. Amazing! Wish I could pull off a look like that!
