INTERIORS TO INSPIRE :: KELLY GREEN

I thought it would be fitting to bring a little kelly green (Cassandra's signature color!) to Interiors to Inspire this week. Hi again, it's Maggie of Maggie Rose Interiors.

This Sydney, Australia home has a beautiful and modern airiness accented with pops of bold green that are perfect for spring. The palette of black, white, and warm woods along with bold green is carried throughout the home, not only in the following three spaces but also in a green penny tile bath and in the bedrooms (see the link below to visit the whole story).

In the main room of the home you can't miss the lacquered green wall in the kitchen. A boxy table mimics the squared-off island, and white and black accents dot the space. Just outside we can see a slat roof and wire chairs.

Heading upstairs, you can see that the home's architecture is mid-century, which is also reflected in some of the furniture (with newer pieces to keep it from feeling too period). The open stairs, railing, and wood wall all reflect the same striped feeling of the patio roof outdoors. The sweet little stool brings back our pop of green.

In the playroom, we can see a similar line pattern in the rattan chair, and the same color palette of black and white and brown on the interior with the green coming from the garden outdoors. Add a little geometric stool for the weight of the chunkier furniture downstairs.

We can accomplish a similar look by borrowing similar colors and mimicking the horizontal architecture with slatted furniture and stripes:

This pendant is almost a match to the Tom Dixon pendant in the home - I love the pop of gold inside! This buffet looks very similar to the walls in the stairway of the inspiration home, and even keeps our palette in mind. Top off with this emerald green lamp. I love that the wire and leather bar feels light and airy like all the windowed rooms but still has lots of lines (worth the investment as a truly unique piece!). This geometric pebble stool is similar to the one in the playroom but is the color of the homes concrete floors. This wire chair looks like it would fit right in under the slatted patio roof. And tongue-in-cheek at our lined patten is this zebra pillow on a very fitting kelly green background.

  5. I, too, recently blogged about my love for green! This is amazing. When I have my own house (not some rented apartment) you can bet my kitchen will be kelly green.
