Just read that pastels are going to be HOT in 2012... I think you're spot on!
Every runway I have seen has featured ladylike, feminine pastels with strong shapes. I love this vintage look!

but here spring is already hitting the shop floors and it is all NEON again, YUCK! I hope that it is just left overs from last year to fill the racks until the real spring lines appear.

I think going all pastel is a hard thing to pull off without looking too too sweet. If I had my guess, I would say the move on from jewel tones and brights would be to combine them with tonally lighter or pastel versions of the same hue (e.g. magenta with light pink).
She's making me feel so much better about being tanless this winter!
