I have to admit - I haven't been the biggest fan of this technicolor fur trend. The fur explosion in itself is getting a teeeeensy bit old (although I do adore a good fur throw in my home), and colored fur? Hm. Not so sure. But then I saw this gorgeous editorial...
And suddenly it came together for me. Paired in a monochromatic palette, these colorful furs actually layer quite nicely. Instead of standing out too much they simply add texture to an already colorful ensemble. And if you do want to do something a little more 'high contrast'?
Pair it with neutrals to keep it classy, and match your hat to your stole so you don't look like a furry rainbow. What do you think? Could you brave it? I might be able to talk myself into something along the lines of that rusty red color...

*ps - before someone leaves a nasty comment, yes i like to err on the side of faux fur, unless it's vintage!
I think it looks fantastic! I love the style - thanks for sharing! I hope you don't mind me sharing two photos and linking your blog to it on my inspiration blog...

Great colours, love this look from Gucci..
ReplyDeleteI love color, but fear it would be a little too pimp & ho ha ha.

Fur? You vacuous, selfish creatures. Do you have any idea what animals that are farmed for their fur go through? Consider this 'follower' and UN-follower.
ReplyDeleteI could do a colorful fur tail on my purse for sure, but I don't think I could go full jacket. I'd probably buy it and NEVER wear it knowing me!

Before I even finished reading your post, I was thinking that I MIGHT be able to do the russet colored fur, but the other ones are a little too much. I'm not that brave.
ReplyDeletei had a rabbit fur pinkish coat i bought from BEBE several yrs ago. same one Britney Spears wore at the Hollywood walk hand print thing she did. Unfortunately mine got stolen..but it was sooo pretty!
ReplyDeleteIm not sure of the dark colors...but i saw one this past weekend, that was white with subtle dark gray spots..super nice!! :))))

anon, you OBVIOUSLY did not read the entire post and my disclaimer at the end. before you jump down people's throats maybe you should be more thorough.
ReplyDeletehow could anyone say no after seeing this glorious editorial you paired with your post?! I'm a big fan of the purple fur + hat combo - so luxe.

i know...it's sort of changing my mind about fur too. as long as it's fake.
ReplyDeleteI think if you are going to faux fur it...go with like what I am wearing tonight---which is on my blog today. xoxo
ReplyDeletelovely looks. Kisses.
ReplyDeleteUm, hell yes. :) As long as it faux, like you said!
ReplyDeleteCassandra, I came here from your twitter. I'm sorry that you're getting ugly comments about this post; but perhaps you could avoid commentary like anonymous left if you didn't make your disclaimer so small? Put your readers at ease by boldly stating that when you can, you go for the faux. Fur is such a touchy subject, that a teeny tiny ad-hoc disclaimer can be overlooked by a reader who just got their emotions up because of the title.
ReplyDeleteJust a suggestion. It's your blog!
With that said, I absolutely love these photos - the color use is so creative in the way it ties in with the outfits. The blue is stunning. I also like the all red outfit with the fur. I think it'd be easier to pull off this trend with a monochrome outfit.
Great post!

ReplyDeleteHard to pull off (I fear the colored-fur trend is more Snooki and less Princess Grace) but here, it's simply gorgeous! Fabulous photography find.

I love these looks!!! So vintage. Fierce!
ReplyDeletewaow she looks amazing! p.s. google will only delete GFC for non-blogger users.. so it won't change for us.. but the whole vibe doesn't seem right.. I think people will move to bloglovin' for sure.
ReplyDeleteHello Cassandra,
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a wonderful week so far!
As for this post, lovely styles that I would definitely try. (particularly layered over a coat for something different) Vintage furs? Yes, indeed, for we do not want them to end up in the landfills, correct? No, we must appreciate them. As for new purchases, faux fur is a wonderful option, just as you've mentioned...
Warmly,
Sarah
Is it just me or am I the only one who can't see any of the images posted?
ReplyDeleteOh my!! I want one of each of these furbies!!!
ReplyDeleteAgain....assuming it's faux.....I love the photos, and would love to say I lead a life where wearing this sort of thing was at least an occasional option, but alas, I do not....so I will settle for putting my few $$ into my home. :)
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with Cassandra and Sarah re: vintage and faux furs. Gorgeous post all around. Keep up the fantastic work, Cassandra! Always fun to read and see what trends you're picking up on. x

I am loving that rusty red and the purple with the gray! I am so happy I stumbled upon your blog!
ReplyDeleteBarbara
oh yes, I'd say yes! love it. the purple one is my fave. xo
ReplyDeleteI agree with you as well, prior to this editorial I wasn't a fan. Somehow coloured fur didn't speak high-end to me...well not anymore!
ReplyDeletethese images are stunning
ReplyDeleteI think that the first thing you should have said, in BIG BLACK letters is that you are against cruelty for vanity.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the tiny disclaimer I have decided to keep reading your blog
I love colored fur...I have a new one in green!
ReplyDeleteI have just discovered your blog and I'm your new follower!
xoxo

I would definitely wear colored fur accents, just not sure I could pull off a whole jacket, or hat...hmmm
ReplyDeleteLOOOOVE this editorial. I was not a fan of colored fur before either but these looks are so luxurious and sophisticated, I'm sold! I esp. love the 1st and 3rd images, I could totally do those colors! All of these looks, esp #2 scream Gucci to me <3

I love them! Got some color collars myself, one in mustard.
ReplyDeleteI remember when my mom had a purple mink coat back in the early '80s. She got quite the look in my humble home town of Salzburg, Austria. She still has the coat, but had it dyed back to brown.
Cheers,
Claudia
I love this editorial. It makes the color fur trend so chic. But I just don't know if I'm a fur person. Whenever I wear it... I feel like a housewife from New Jersey :)

I love all the fur you showed, but I think it stands out because the model is gorgeous. I don't know that I could pull off wearing fur, but it would be fun to give it a try.
