BACK TO BRASS

I've been drooling over this gorgeous brass railing at the new Tory Burch flagship store ever since This is Glamorous posted it on her beautiful blog...

And because of that, I've been dreaming of ways I could bring a bit of this glam element into my little apartment... the solution? A brass headboard:

I've had this little cutie bookmarked for months over on Etsy, and it just sold yesterday. Boo.

I discovered this one over on 1st Dibs, but it seems a bit too blocky for me.

I'm not 100% sold on the idea of a metal headboard vs. fabric as I do end up doing work in bed from time to time and I want it to be comfy, but the way that brass pops off the walls is so gorgeous! Any other ideas on how to incorporate it into the home?

  2. I love that headboard and it does remind me of the railing in the TB store on Madison. I think I would be willing to prop up a few extra pillows for comfort to own this one. So Hollywood...I don't have a 1st dibs log in so I don't know the price...a lot??

Happened to see this on Raleigh NC craigslist tonight: http://raleigh.craigslist.org/fuo/2608366345.html

A good price but pickup only ... of course anything is probably negotiable.

  9. Why don't you use a brass etagere or nightstands instead... Worlds away has fabulous ones. That way you can still hacve a comfy upholstered headboard.

  12. Cassandra- Would you consider doing something with Arteriors Gilded Open Work mirrors? Three of them would be so fab as a headboard. So it's gilded an not brass... but hey that's even better in my book.

    just a thought...

  17. I've been loving brass lately too, it looks so good with darker colors. Have a sciolari brass chandelier in our bedroom which looks great against the downpipe walls. And a brass floor lamp in our living room. Also have been trying to find reasonably priced brass bathroom fixtures...no luck. They are either ugly or $$$. I think a brass headboard looks great but wouldn't be very comfy.

  19. I really love those brass headboards - but like you, I often work, read, blog, in bed and need it to be comfy! I think a guest bedroom would be the perfect spot!

  20. I love this bed, and of coarse scoured CG for one. This is a fantastic idea for a headboard. I like using brass as a coffee table of alot of nightstands that have brass accents.

I'm "anon" who lives in Raleigh. If I can help you just let me know ... saw you are coming to High Point (that's about 1 hour from Raleigh). Don't have a blog ... just a blog stalker who loves interior design. I bet Jamie at isuwanee would store for you if you want me to pick up for you and take to her store. - Allison (allisong@velaagency.com)

  22. I found a pair of vintage brass pineapple lamps at a local yard sale, only $10 for the pair. I have cool colors in my home (turquoise, other blues, greige, red splashes, with a lot of silver accents, and was afraid the brass would not look right. What do you think?

  23. how about a fabric headboard with brass trim? or nailheads? Yum!

  24. Love the headboards! But as another way to incorporate brass in your home I would suggest a lamp. I have a vintage brass lamp hanging over my kitchen table, and Tom Dixon have some pretty awesome ones too: http://www.tomdixon.net/products/eu/void-light-brass
