ROOM OF THE WEEK: 4.21

Glamour. White on white. And a hit of green. Seriously - what's not to love?

I'm pretty sure my next apartment won't be as big as this bedroom, but if it were, this is exactly how I'd set it up. Well... I'd add a little more personality and punch. And hardwood floors. But let's focus on the space at hand. What do you think? Honestly, big bedrooms like this intimidate me a bit. The most I've ever had to deal with was a little space for a small seating area. But an entire living room? And desk?

Now, normally, I might say this is a little *yawn*... but isn't that what you want in a bedroom? Something simple and calming as you drift off to sleep? If anything, I'd change the paint or flooring to something a little darker... maybe the curtains as well. But the simple gold accents everywhere are putting me over the edge in love. And that green color? It's about to be everywhere. Mark my words.

Thoughts? Hate? Love? I don't know if I could honestly live with it... but I know I love it!

  1. My dad and stepmom have a living room in their bedroom and they never use it, although it is very pretty! I would rather have a huge kitchen instead!

  3. Love how calming it is...exactly what you want for a bedroom but I agree that it would look much better with wood floors. I do love the gold accents !!

I kind of love how relaxing it looks - I think it would be a lovely hotel suite for a chic getaway. The kind that involves running up after pool time to change into an evening dress.

  7. LOVE that room, but personally, I only like to sleep in my bedroom, so I'd love the space somewhere else in the house. Kitchen, huge living room!!

  8. love the layout and use of the space. We rarely get to see such wide shots in bedrooms... usually its just the bed and details. And that deep blue chaise is callin' my name!

  9. naomi - i love the chaise too! and you're right - it's SO nice to get a full room shot that captures the whole space and layout, isn't it??

ames - you're totally right. i'm already picturing myself on that sofa in my puffy bathrobe...

  10. Lovely! I would agree with you about darker flooring and possibly curtains, I think it would better anchor the space and add more dimension.

I don't have any sitting arrangement in my bedroom and mine is huge, so all the space I have , in future I pkane to have a reading nook and a sitting area.
In this particular room , though I am not a big fan of green, but I like the green but I need some colore in the wall and preferably there has to be an accent wall.Ceratinly curtains and wood floor.

  15. I completely agree with being intimidated by large bedrooms. For some reason, the previous owner of our house had converted 2 decent-sized bedrooms into 1 monstrosity of a sleeping space. We spent a few nights in there and opted to move into a smaller bedroom. An echo is not comforting, especially when your boyfriend is a hardcore snorer. I do love this layout though, and my love affair with green lately has been bordering on obsessive.

  17. Although I am still learning when it comes to decor and accessories this is amazing. I love the white and then one color item. I'll definitely keep this in mind when writing my article on good gift ideas for home decor enthusiasts. I look forward to learning more from you!

  18. My Mum and Dad have a huge bedroom - what used to operate as the drawing room in our century old house. They spend almost their whole lives in there!
