A long room like this one can definitely feel awkward and be a challenge when it comes to furnishings, but the use of mirrors, mirrors and more mirrors - and those tall windows - open the space up quite a bit. The simple lines and muted palette also contribute to the room feeling larger than it likely is. And let's talk about the amount of shimmer going on here! Hubba hubba. While it reads as slightly cold, I have a feeling that in reality the prints used on the bench and chairs warm the space up a bit more than we may think. I love the different textures and patterns in the fabric!
Shall we take a quick peek at some more?

Here we see the passthrough to the living room is actually a tres chic office space! The doorway flanked by even more mirrors is incredible. I'm beginning to think someone has a fetish?

But since their infatuation for mirrors seems to be matched with a love for gilded furnishings, I'm going to say that whoever lives here may be my long lost bestie. PS - did you see the way the sliding glass doors on the bookshelf here are covered with framed whiteboards? Kinda love that.

I just blogged about this same space two days ago. The apt is in Madrid and belongs to a couple who are both designers.

They look a little like framed whiteboards, but I think they are framed French words:

Fabulous room!! I love a long room that can be divided into different seating areas. They have been on my radar lately, as I am designing one for a client. I have been having dreams of being in long rooms!!

That couch is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI love this space and think the textures and spots of soft gold color here and there keep it from getting too cold and balance out all the wonderful use of mirror.
ReplyDeleteLove this space... the desk is a beauty.

It is gorgeous, I agree. It appears to actually be a very small space but they managed to fit a lot in there w/out feeling overcrowded. Incredible space utilization & functionality. (And I love that bench!!)
