While I'll admit to being one of those shameless types who picks up vintage books at the flea market simply based on a beautiful cover design, it's nice to have the best of both worlds (classic literature and graphic jackets). So, when I discovered that Coralie had designed a cover for one of my all time favorite books - The Great Gatsby

What I didn't realize is that she had created a series of deco inspired covers for the entire F. Scott Fitzgerald collection, and I have to say I'm more motivated than ever to dive into the rest of his books...

My only complaint is that these covers aren't hardbacks, so they will be harder to preserve. On the upside... I think I just found some serious inspiration for a Gatsby-esque birthday bash come October!
I need this entire collection for the barren bookshelf in our bedroom!

Holy! I love The Great Gatsby (and Fitzgerald) too and have just added these to my wishlist. The cover reminds me of the Malene Berger post you did (that wallpapered bedroom).

p.s. Did you see the new Kate Spade vintage book clutches? The Gatsby one is my favorite and reminds me of the cover of Kelly Wearstler's book Modern Glamour.

ReplyDeleteBeing an English major, I find it very, very hard to pass up any books - let alone beautifully designed ones. For my literary style fix, though, I have been collecting the orange paperback Penguins with the hope that one day I may be able fill a whole shelf with them.

These are fabulous. Really fabulous. I loved Fitzgerald when I was in college and have done several Great Gatsby parties over the years. Marvelous decadent era. The book covers reflect the design aesthetic of this era marvelously.
