WOULD YOU, COULD YOU?

I think it's safe to say that most of us are a big fan of coral colored pops in our home... but what about entire walls?

...in lacquer no less!

It takes a brave client to trust their designer to take this color to the next level, but I think it's also easy to see how these two rooms make it work: lots of neutrals and using a tone on tone strategy to make the furniture blend more with the walls. Not to mention plenty of light!

As for me, I absolutely love the look of this color in all its high-gloss glory, but I think I'd be more likely to opt for something like this...

A little more calm but still with the desired effect.

Especially loving it paired with one of my favorite Missoni fabric for just the right amount of punch! What do you think? Could you do high gloss color in your home?

  3. I considered coral walls for the kitchen in my old apartment and I'm happy I went with turquoise instead. But those coral lacquered dressers? Ridiculously stunning! I would love something like that!

  5. I think I'd get a little claustrofobic with coral walls, I agree that good lighting is key to pull it off.

Am totally LOVING it as accent color though :)

  6. Coral is my favorite color and while I'd like to think I could do full coral walls, I'm afraid that I'd actually get sick of my beloved coral... with simple dashes of it here and there, it holds onto its "pop" quality!

  8. Yes I much prefer it on a credenza. And hold the phone- how about those ottomans in the last image.... LOVE! Though that could be said about every one of Molly Luetkemeyer's rooms.

  10. I'm with you. I like that saturation of color until I saw the bigger photo and then it was a little austere. Very interesting though!

ooh, I love the last room. I think I could do a high-gloss color pop in turquoise or in coral for sure. But I'm with you, the pops do the trick for me. Don't know if I'm brave enough for the walls too!! Also, the contributers seem to fit right at home here - they are blending in seamlessly :)

  15. My grandmother had an entire room of bookshelves in a similar color, so I'm very drawn to it (probably out of nostalgia). But it IS a very happy color....

I especially love that printed coral and white chair - striking!

  16. as coral is one of my top favorite colors (tied with every other color imaginable) it has found a perfect place on my dining room chairs.

they are definitely beautiful in all their coral high gloss glory!

I could, and I would! Love the modern, classic lines of the furnishings, so Mid Century Mod, and the lacquer, love, love, love it!

  19. I would definetly do high gloss laquer....but only on furniture or even built-ins like the 1st picture. Not sure if I could do all the walls of a huge space. I love the look just don't know if I could be that daring.

  21. Coral is one of my favorite colors, and I really like these interiors. I most likely wouldn't do it in my own home though.

  28. Yes, Yes and Yes! I would and I could and I did. I was starting to get a little cranky about expensive objects on posts. We shop, therefore we blog, read, comment. Paint is a bargain. I love high gloss, oil based vibrant colors. Give me clean pure coral, yellow, grays, and blues. It is what gets me through the very short N.C. winters that seem eternal to me.

  29. I love the color but I am more about using it as an accent that can be moved around and sometimes put away if I want a change. The great light does help a lot.

  33. That coral console is gorgeous! Just did a room in coral and sky blue and it was so pretty and feminine and fresh. But that console, wow. You have me thinking about painting my oatmeal-colored one in my living room--which would of course necessitate and entire room redo.

  34. Absolutely loving coral right now - I'm not sure I could do a whole room though - I've thought about it for our guestroom but I think I'm too much of a chicken
