Of course the main question is - what does one pair with this strong color? Well, first off, let's start by saying that citron is the pop - not the base. I love it as an accent to shades of greyish blues, seashell pinks and nudes, and a dramatic black or rich brown.

A popular choice on the runways for the resort collections, it pairs freshly with white for summer, but is given more character and depth with the addition of some of these other color selections as well.

And - while quite intuitively modern in most settings - citron makes a beautiful choice for dramatic traditional settings as well. In fact - the upholstery on the antique accent chair in my living room could be considered a shade of citron! Pair it with gold and bronze to make the color shine through.
I can't wait to see how gorgeous it looks against deep teals and aubergine for fall, too!

ReplyDeleteTerrific post, Cassandra! You color boards are utterly inspiring and citron might be my new crush as well :). I'd love it paired with some muted shades of neutral colors, that would make for a fantastic and modern combo!
ReplyDeleteThis is the inspiration I was looking for - I want to paint my rattan sofa and this color has been on my mind. My husband, however hates it. Maybe seeing such a lovely mood board will sway his opinion.
ReplyDeleteCitron looks really great with the other colors you chose! beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised how much I'm loving this colour palette, I would have never considered it for my own home but now I'm thinking a pop of citron might be what's missing.

ReplyDeleteThanks for showing the color chips, that really helped me visualize how the yellow color would go in a room palette. I too will always have a fondness for that lemony yellow color because it was the color of the breakfast room chairs in my childhood house. In fact my mom painted them herself as a crazy pregnancy project - thanks mom for poisoning me with the fumes!!!
ReplyDeleteThat lamp is to die for!
ReplyDeleteDROOLING over these color palettes. I think the last one is my fav. but the first one is a close second...
ReplyDeleteVery nice if done properly! I was thinking about doing something very bold like this in my guest bedroom which has very very dark muted purple, almost black walls. Should be interesting!
